For job seekers · Overview Working abroad

Working in Qatar.

Qatar dropped the old rule that tied a worker to one employer, and removed the exit permit for most workers. Demand runs across construction, facilities, hospitality and healthcare support.

To take up a job in Qatar from India you need an offer from a Qatari employer, a contract registered with the labour ministry, a medical test at an approved centre, an employer-sponsored work visa, and emigration clearance if your passport is ECR. Nasrec prepares each step with you and keeps you updated.

  • Your contract is registered with the labour ministry before you travel.
  • You can move to a new employer after serving notice, without the old employer's permission.
  • You no longer need an exit permit to travel home.
  • The medical test is booked at an approved centre through the Wafid (GAMCA) system.
  • An ECR passport means emigration clearance through the eMigrate system before you travel.

Wide labour reforms since 2020, and a clear route out of a bad job.

What to expect, in plain words.

How the job is offered

A Qatari employer interviews you and issues a written offer, then registers the contract. We confirm the role, the hours, the rest day and what is included before you agree.

You can change employer

After serving notice, and without your employer's permission. Most workers also no longer need an exit permit to travel home.

Your salary is paid through a bank

Monthly, under Qatar's Wage Protection System, with the payment reported to the labour authority.

Before you fly

An ECR passport needs emigration clearance through eMigrate. You also need the Wafid (GAMCA) medical and the PBBY insurance cover. We handle each of these with you.

Your rights

What protects you.

  • A registered written contract
  • The freedom to change jobs after serving notice
  • No exit permit needed to travel home
  • End-of-service pay
