Working in Europe.
Europe is not one system. Each country sets its own work-permit rules, and almost all of them start with an employer who has a job to fill and is willing to sponsor a worker from outside Europe.
Work in Europe from India almost always starts with an employer who offers you a job and applies for a permit on your behalf. The destination country checks the offer, then issues a permit or a visa you collect before travel. Rules, documents and timelines differ by country, and openings depend on employer demand.
- An employer must offer the job and start the permit application. You cannot usually apply on your own.
- Many countries use a single permit that covers both residence and work.
- Qualification certificates and experience letters usually need attestation or apostille before they are accepted.
- Some trades ask for recognition of your qualification, and some ask for a language level.
- Timelines are usually longer than the Gulf, because the destination authority reviews the file.

What to expect, in plain words.
How the job is offered
A European employer interviews you and issues a written offer, then applies to its own national authority for permission to employ a worker from outside Europe. We confirm the role, the hours and what is included before you agree to anything.
The permit is issued by the country, not by us
Each country decides who may work there. Many use a single permit that covers residence and work together. The decision, the documents and the waiting time are set by that country's rules.
Documents
A valid passport, education and trade certificates, experience letters and passport photographs. Certificates usually need attestation or apostille, and sometimes an official translation. Some trades ask for your qualification to be recognised, and some ask for proof of a language level.
Before you fly
Emigration clearance applies only to the countries on the Government of India's ECR list, and European countries are not on that list. Health checks depend on the country and the employer. We check your case with you and tell you exactly what applies.
How long it usually takes
Longer than the Gulf. From offer to travel, the permit and visa stages usually take a few months, because the destination authority reviews the file before it decides.
Good to know: Openings in Europe depend on employer demand and on each country's permit rules, so they open and close. Ask us what is actually open before you plan anything.
What protects you.
- A written contract before you travel, in terms you understand
- The destination country's own labour law on hours, rest and leave applies to you as well
- Your passport stays yours
- A permit that names the job and the employer, so you know exactly what you are allowed to do
Who to call, from day one.
- The Indian Embassy or Consulate in the country you work in. The Ministry of External Affairs publishes every mission and its contact details.
- MADAD, the Government of India's online portal for consular help for Indians abroad.
- The helpline published on the eMigrate portal, for emigration questions from India.
- Nasrec. Someone on our team knows your name and your case, and we keep checking in after you land.
You can reach Nasrec on +91 99468 07777 at any point in your journey. We brief you on all of this before you fly.
